Albania is a country with a developing healthcare system, where many citizens do not have access to high-quality medical care. According to statistics, approximately 60% of the Albanian population suffers from at least one chronic disease, including:
myocardial infarction, heart failure, hypertension
asthma, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
breast cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer
tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis
However, only 20% of these patients have access to adequate medical care. This means that approximately 800,000 people in Albania do not have access to medical treatment for diseases that could be successfully treated.
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in Albania, accounting for 40% of deaths. Respiratory diseases are the second leading cause of death, accounting for 20% of deaths. Oncological diseases are the third leading cause of death, accounting for 15% of deaths.

Many Albanian patients cannot afford medical care due to poverty and lack of health insurance. Additionally, 20% of the population does not have health insurance and must pay out-of-pocket for medical care.
The lack of access to adequate medical care has serious consequences for the health of Albanian patients.
Many patients die prematurely from diseases that could be treated. Others suffer from disability and reduced quality of life.
